Simple Delicious Papaya Dish for Weight Loss

Papaya is an edible fruit grown in all tropical regions of the world. Papayas not only offer a luscious taste and sunlit colour of the tropics, but are also rich sources of antioxidant nutrients such as Vitamin B and C, Carotenes, Flavonoids, Folate, Panthothenic Acid, Potassium, Magnesium and Fiber. The fruit has traditionally been used to treat various health problems including arteriosclerosis, catarrh, dysentery, diarrhoea, flatulence, gastritis, ulcers, rheumatism and more.
Here is a recipe for a delicious dish that will fill your tummy and help you lose weight at the same time.
Portion: Serves 4
Ingredients:
1 Medium-sized unripe / whole green Papaya
2 Tbsp of Sunflower oil
4 Onion shallots, sliced
4 Garlic cloves, chopped
1 Fresh green chilli, halved
1 tsp of Chilli powder
1 ½ tsp of Turmeric powder
¾ tsp Jeera (Cumin) seeds
¾ tsp curry powder
5 pieces of Basil leaves
Pinches of salt
Method
1) Peel the Papaya, dispose the seeds and cut into cubes. Boil the Papaya cubes until they are soft, then strain the water.
2) Heat the oil in a frying pan, and sauté the onion and garlic until light brown. Then add to the pan the fresh Chilli, Jeera (Cumin) seeds, Chilli powder, Turmeric powder and Curry powder. Continue frying until aroma rises.
3) Add the cooked Papaya cubes into the pan and stir fry for 30 seconds.
4) Add in the Basil leaves and turn off the fire, and the cover the pan. The dish is now ready to be served.
