Excerpt from the introduction of "Sun Tzu's Art of War Unveiled: A Fourth-Dimensional Interpretation to Master Your Mind":

"...harness the power of your mind to live the ideal life that you desire.

Man is gifted with a great power - the mind. The mind is like a mad monkey, which is seemingly difficult to control, but it is still the most powerful instrument that we possess, which when conquered and disciplined will grant us liberation from limiting thoughts. The experience of reality is nothing but the ideas and beliefs that we hold within.
For too long people have been enslaved by the senses. They have given the power to other people to define their lives instead of writing their life story themselves. Most people believe that life is completely out of their control, a notion that has caused untold misery to mankind. The only panacea for suffering is for one to realise the Self and to understand the nature of the mind. Know that all power lies within. Nothing is impossible unto us  as long as we believe.

Over the years, we have so many examples of people who have exceeded the limit of what most deem to be impossible. All success stories started with one single idea that the individual had persisted in. Before the Wright brothers invented the airplane, how many would have dared to dream of flying in the air? Before Alexander Graham Bell invented the telephone, how many would have thought that the people in the world today can easily connect with each other merely by keying in specific numbers on a piece of machinery? These are the people who dared to dream beyond the paradigm of what was seen by society as ‘normal’. Though they were ridiculed for their ‘impossible’ dreams before they materialised, their unflinching confidence in their vision led them to their success. At the end of the day, the world still had to accept the fact that these dreams were not impossible after all. These examples prove to us that the creative power within is greater than any collective ideas without. We can still succeed even if our surrounding situation dictates otherwise.

The mind is a battlefield of conflicting thoughts. Since we reap what we sow, it is important to be selective of our thoughts and direct the mind to dwell only on those that will bring forth desirable experiences. Using the principles introduced by the world’s most famous military tactician Sun Tzu from his Art of War literature, this book aims to acquaint you with the nature of the mind so that you learn to be the Master of your fate."

Life is what you make out of it. As within, so without. Our life is just a reflection of our thought processes within. To change our circumstances is therefore to change our thoughts and feelings within. Some call it the Law of Attraction, whereas some other people (before The Secret) call it Mental Science or Science of Mind. Regardless of the term that you are comfortable to use to describe the power latent within you, it works the same way for everyone: "as your faith, so be it unto you."

How do we do it?
Lie in your bed quietly or sit comfortably, and relax all muscles. When you begin to feel that the body is completely at ease and are about to drift off to sleep, you have reached the border between wake and sleep. According to Mental Science, this is the Alpha state. This state is achieved when the mind has been stilled from its endless chatters and is highly favourable in the art of visualisation for it is the bridge between your conscious and subconscious mind. This is the best time for you to take control of all your senses and redirect them to play the image of the ideal you so desire so that your subconscious mind will be impregnated by the ideas you introduced by your conscious mind. Remember to only ‘experience’ the end.

For example, if what you want is to be promoted, then the most natural end result would be to be congratulated for it. Create a scene in your mind and experience the event with all your inner senses. You may imagine that your boss is congratulating you. ‘Listen’ to his voice with your inner ear. ‘Observe’ his face as he congratulates you. ‘Feel’ his handshake or his pat on your shoulder for your success. ‘Feel’ the joy and gratitude that your dream has now materialised. Repeat the scene over and over again until you drift off to sleep.

How the scene will materialise in your objective reality is unimportant. Nature abhors a vacuum. Your current life circumstances will begin to shape themselves to be the perfect end result that you have ‘experienced’ within.

Examples: Case Studies
I had a student, Miss U.W., from the United Kingdom who loved to cook and needed a blender. She was however not willing to part with her money to buy it. I suggested to her to invoke the power of her imagination to bring her a free blender. Every night without fail, she would ‘switch’ the blender on and off in her imagination, again and again in her mind until she fell asleep. One week later, as she was walking home from work, she was compelled from within to take another lane, which she had never taken before. Miss U.W. came across a retail store that was closing down. Outside the advertising window was a blender, sold for only £5 per piece. The original price was £20! She happily bought the blender and gave me a phone call to tell me of her ‘success’ of imagination. I however reminded her that we agreed upon a ‘free blender’ and not a £5 pound blender. Advising her not to compromise, she was to again experience ‘within’ her that she had already received a free blender.

A few days later, Miss U.W. rang me again and said that one of her friends had to leave the country abruptly due to family reasons and was giving her things away. What she got from this friend was a blender!

Another student of mine from Malaysia, Mr. R.C. also wanted a blender to make his own natural facial mask. He too did not want to spend a dime on it. I narrated to him Miss U.W.'s success of getting the free blender, and he decided to repeat the technique. Few days later, he wrote me an e-mail saying that his father's bank had sent him a catalogue to exchange his credit card points for free gifts. His points were just enough to exchange for a free blender, and he did!

All that you behold, though it appears to be without, it is within, in your imagination of which this world of mortality is but a shadow.

Swell. I've been an avid reader of mindpower-related materials and have some success with it. I'll write in. Looking forward to reading other people's stories too. Thanks!

  2. JoJo King says:

Finally!!! When I first read the lecture on as within, so without, there were only few case studies there. At least with this column, we'll have more so that we can better our techniques.

So we just write in to the e-mail address above? Is there any specific format to follow?

I have a suggestion. Can't it be divided into categories such as health, beauty, career, money etc. etc. and people share their stories as comments? Wouldn't that make the column more accessible instead of readers having to scroll through the entire column and clicking one by one to access each story? Or does HLA want to handpick each story to determine its quality before publishing it?

  5. Simran R. says:

@anonymous, I think it'd be too long wouldn't it? By the time everyone shares their law of attraction success stories, we'll have to scroll all the way down. In the long run, doesn't look too good. Thanks but no thanks!

  6. mandygirl says:

  7. @Sunny: Yes. Submit your story to the e-mail address given. The format has also been included.
